The Goa Forest Department has acquired 17 hectares of land along the Galgibag coast to create Goa’s first turtle conservation reserve, under a centrally sponsored scheme. A socio-economic survey for the same has already commenced and is being carried out by Dakshin Foundation. As per the Forest Department, steps are being taken to bring all stakeholders into confidence and a conservation plan will soon be submitted for approval. As per this plan, a natural incubation center for turtles, a research center and other facilities to attract tourists and students will be created.
