Tests – where to test, procedures, contact numbers

1) RT – PCR
This is the gold standard – to be done if you have symptoms or 5 days post close exposure – takes 36 – 48 hours for the result – prescription required.
a) GMC – Free – requirement- prescription from a GMC Doctor, Aadhar card
b) Suburban Diagnostics – Panjim – Rs 4500 – by appointment, Aadhar card required
c) Manipal Hospital – Rs 4500 – you have to go 1 day before, show your aadhar card, fill the forms.
d) Victor Hospital, Margao- Rs 4,500 – Aadhar required – walk in encouraged Mon – Sat 8 am – 5 pm
e) V M Salgaonkar hospital, Vasco – Rs 4,500 – appointment needed – first antigen assay is done and if negative but symptomatic then RT PCR is done.
f) SRL – porvorim – Rs 4500 Aadhar required
g) Metropolis labs – home collection possible – Rs 4500 + Rs 250 – if outside Panjim – Aadhar required
2) Rapid Antigen assay
positives are certain but a negative result – uncertain. 65% of negatives could be false negatives. New ICMR guidelines say that if negative, but symptomatic, get a RTPCR done – prescription required
a) Urban Health centre’s, PHCs – free – just go there
b) Manipal – Rs 1500 – again 1 day prior you have to go with the Aadhar card and fill forms.
c) Apollo hospital – Margao – Rs 1500 just walk in
d) VM Salgaonkar hospital, Vasco – Rs 1500 – appointment needed
3) Antibody tests – these are to check if you have developed antibodies – post infection or through herd immunity
