In order to improve the sex ratio in Goa, the state government’s MAMTA scheme – which provides a financial incentive for giving birth to girl children, has increased the incentive amount to Rs 10,000 from Rs 5,000. To vail of this scheme, the applicant must be a resident of Goa for at least three years or be married to a Goan resident.
